How did I miss the year on your post?? I'm so sorry to hear your news. I had two miscarriages in the first trimester and can't even imagine how tough losing twin babies at 22 months must have been. I'm so glad you got to spend those…

Thanks so much for your comment. Oh gosh, where to begin? So, yes, we were able to move forward with IVF after the biopsy. And I got pregnant on the next try once we realized we had to make some adjustments in the meds. I was pregnant with twins…

Since this was posted back in May, how did it go? Any luck thus far? I went through the whole range of fertility testing (back in April) in attempt to diagnose recurrent miscarriage. Some of those tests are not so fun and can be quite painful. But,…

How long have you been into fitness?
Since I met my hubby, about 10 years ago.
About Me: Tell us about yourself and your family.
There's no category for "trying really hard to have a baby." That would best describe me. I'm celebrating 20 years cancer free this year. Unfortunately, the journey towards being cancer-free has also left me egg-free. I've defined myself for most of my adult life as a non-breeder. Now, we are attempting to change that definition with the help of assisted reproduction.

I was pregnant. For almost 22 weeks with beautiful twin girls. I went into pre-term labor Dec. 5, 2008 and gave birth to our girls, who stayed with us for only a few hours before they passed away. Those hours changed our lives. Now, we are trying to pick up the pieces, stay sane and hope to grow our family again.

Running It Out

[mini-intro for those who don't know me: I'm Gabrielle from The Maybe Baby and formerly Fertility Notes. I'm a cancer survivor. After years of trying to conceive, we were pregnant with twins using donor eggs and IVF. I gave birth to our girls far too early - at 21 weeks - this December. And now we are trying to remember the joy of those few moments with them and handle the grief of not having them here.… Continue

Acupressure for Fertility

Check out my new gear.

No, no, not the earrings. The earbuds. Those lovely little patches that contain magnets, perfectly placed to stimulate points in my ears that are related to fertility.

That’s my homework assignment. Given to me by my acupuncturist last week.

24 pulses on each point. 4-6 times a day. In fact, these instructions on eHow may as well have been written by her (I don’t think they were).

Can… Continue

Superstitious?

Have I jinxed anything by picking up a handful of free parenting/mom-to-be/babytalk mags that are lying around my ob/gyn's office like candy?

I couldn't help it. I am fascinated. I have never ever ever even cracked one of these publications open. My doctor was running a little late. I needed something to read. Before you know it, I had devoured one. Cover to cover.

Good lordessa, this whole pregnancy thing is fascinating. My body would… Continue

Don't Ignore Your Dentist - Oral Health Can Affect Fertility

Photo credit: http://flickr.com/photos/oskay/ The last thing I want to do this morning is go to my 10 a.m. dentist appointment. I could list the many reasons this is a total inconvenience, especially since I completely forgot about it until a call late Friday afternoon.

Or, I could suck it up and take care of my teeth and gums with the new understanding that poor dental hygiene results in so much more than stinky breath. A recent preconception article entitled, "Flossing for Fertility" over at… Continue

What to Do for Post IVF Fitness?

Here I sit nearing the end of my two week wait (the dreaded "2WW"), the mandatory waiting period after in vitro fertilization (IVF) where I get the pleasure of "taking it easy" and trying to "stay stress-free" while I sit tight and wait and see if I have achieved a BFP (big fat positive) or a BFN, where the F usually stands for another word. I hate to say it, but the thing I am missing the most - next to my evening glass of Merlot - is my… Continue

Hi Gabrielle!
My first question is, what kind of pilates classes are you taking? Group mat classes, privates on the equipment, etc? In general, pilates should be fine for you until the point of transfer. Pilates (and exercise in general) should actually be a great benefit for you because it will help keep you grounded and cut down on stress levels during this time! After transfer, stretching should be fine and very beneficial. If you're taking equipment classes at a studio, you could still do private sessions and do a lot of arm and leg work with the springs, as well as stretching, and that would be great for you. If you're taking mat classes only, you will probably have to lay off the classes after transfer because so much time is spent on your back in mat classes, and there is so much abdominal-focused work. Hope this was helpul!

I want to know that will I have a normal Delivery. I am not pregnent till now...... I don't want cesarean. This is going to be my first baby....
